Grief is a natural response to loss, an emotional suffering when something or someone we love is taken away. The most intense grief is often caused by the death of a loved one. The sense of loss and emptiness can be overwhelming, leaving you feeling lost and unable to cope.
When You Feel Grief, You Feel as If You’ll Never Get over It
When you’re experiencing the grief of losing a loved one, you might feel as if you’ll never be able to get over your feelings of despair. Grieving is a personal process, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. There is also no set time limit for how long you will grieve. In fact, grieving can feel as if you’re on a roller coaster ride: you’ll have good and bad days. No matter how you grieve or how long it takes, you can learn to grieve in a healthy way that allows you to get on with your life at some point.
There Are Many Reasons for Grief
You can feel grief for many reasons. The death of someone you love usually brings the greatest grief. Other reasons cause grief as well, such as a divorce, losing a job, losing a pet or losing a friend. Some people feel grief from moving away from their hometown or retiring from work.
You Can’t Just Ignore Grief
Grief won’t just go away if you ignore it. To heal, you need to face your grief and learn how to deal with it. You will probably feel a wide range of emotions, such as disbelief, despair, loneliness, guilt, anger, worry and fear. Physical symptoms often accompany grief, such as insomnia, nausea, fatigue, fluctuation of weight and achiness.
Getting Support is Important
When you are going through grief, it’s important for you to get support. You can get encouragement through your family and friends, by engaging in faith-based activities, by joining a group or talking with a trained therapist who can help you work through all the feelings you’re experiencing. If you don’t get help and support, your grief will define you and will become the centre of your life. Your grief might then turn to debilitating depression that disrupts your entire life.
How We Can Help
We at MH-Hypnotherapy teach our clients a way of thinking that enables them to feel more in control of their thoughts and feelings. That, in turn, leaves them feeling more energised, positive and able to cope with the stresses that change can bring. These tools and techniques are long lasting because we teach our clients how to cope with their issues independently using hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), homeopathy, Energetic NLP and Matrix Energetics.
How Many Sessions Does This Take?
We treat all our clients on an individual basis, particularly when the distress is longstanding and impacts the ability to cope with everyday life. During the initial free consultation, we discuss the problem in more detail. This enables us to assess how severe the problem is and to determine the number of sessions required.
